Direct Drive Systems

EEPL's current installations use directly driven assemblies, thus eliminating gear boxes. This accomplishes several key components leading to the highest efficiencies reached in the hydrokinetic field. Direct drive systems reduce energy loss in the conversion from mechanical energy to electrical energy. Further, when operating in water it is critical to not add any new pollutants in the form of oil leaking from gear boxes.
